How to summarize a Reddit thread in Safari.

To summarize a Reddit thread in Safari, open the discussion, open AlliHat, and ask for a summary of the comments. AlliHat reads the post and available comment text, opens some collapsed replies, and sends that context with your question. The answer appears in the sidebar with a count of the comments included.
This guide uses AlliHat 3.2.10 or later on Mac with ChatGPT connected. Agent Mode is off. Reddit comment loading happens as part of the normal page-question workflow.
- Install or update AlliHat for Mac. Enable it in Safari Settings > Extensions and allow it access to Reddit.
- Open an individual Reddit post and let the discussion load. Click the AlliHat toolbar button.

- Send the prompt below. Check the comment count, then follow a supporting link to read the original reply.

Link supporting comments. State how many comments you received and whether this covers the whole thread. Do not search the web.
For a buying decision, follow up with: "Which recommendations come from someone who says they personally used the product? Link those comments." A commenter's experience is still a claim to evaluate, not independent proof.
A real test: seven comments, including nested replies.
We tested a Reddit discussion about summarizing webpages in Safari. With the page at the top, AlliHat read all seven text comments, including replies below the visible screen. It listed the commenters and linked supporting replies.
We then collapsed Mike2922's comment branch and asked again. AlliHat reopened it and correctly described the parent comment and its two replies. You do not need to scroll every loaded comment onto the screen for this text extraction to work.
A Reddit summary is only as complete as its comments.
In a larger discussion about why people use Safari, Reddit reported 1,414 comments. Our Safari test included 61. AlliHat displayed: "Read 61 Reddit comments (Reddit reports 1414). Some comments were not included." The answer also said it was a partial view, not evidence of agreement across the entire thread.
AlliHat limits extra reply loading so a huge thread does not keep you waiting indefinitely. During loading, Use loaded comments lets you proceed with the comments already available.
Deleted comments, unloaded branches, images and other non-text replies can be missing. Very long comments or discussions can also exceed the selected AI's input limit. A Reddit comment count is not a promise that every item is readable.
If an important branch is missing, expand it on Reddit and ask again. You can also open a specific comment's permalink to focus on that part of the conversation. Always check the new coverage count. Changing the sort order changes which comments are loaded first.

Hover over the prompt you sent and click the star labeled Save as favorite prompt. Your instructions appear as a favorite above the message box.
Open another Reddit discussion, open AlliHat, and start a new chat if the previous conversation remains. Click the saved favorite. Keep "this Reddit discussion" in the prompt instead of a particular thread title. You can save separate prompts for product recommendations, troubleshooting suggestions, or disagreements.
