Try asking

You're editing a video's details in YouTube Studio.

"vidIQ, any better ideas for this video's title? Give me 3 options and your pick."

Can you use vidIQ in Safari?

Yes, through AlliHat's connected apps. vidIQ's official browser extension supports Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. It does not currently support Safari.

AlliHat connects to your vidIQ account and lets you ask for help in the sidebar. You get a conversation beside your video, rather than vidIQ's usual scores and overlays on YouTube.

How to connect vidIQ in Safari.

  1. Install AlliHat. Download it from the Mac App Store, then turn it on in Safari Settings > Extensions. Allow access to the pages you want to use.
  2. Choose your AI. Sign in with ChatGPT or connect another supported AI provider. Already chatting in AlliHat? You can skip this step.
  3. Connect vidIQ. Open the three-dot menu, choose Connected apps, find vidIQ, and click Connect. Sign in with your vidIQ account and approve the connection.
  4. Open your video. Once it says Connected, open the video's details in YouTube Studio. Ask for title ideas using the example above, or ask in your own words.

See it work on a real video.

I tried this on my own video, "This Was Supposed to Be an Easy Costume." vidIQ came back with title ideas based on the video details, including "I Wore a Giant Crab to a Museum."

A 22-second recording of AlliHat in Safari. Silent, with waiting shortened.

AlliHat suggested titles in the chat. My YouTube title stayed as it was. If vidIQ returns a score with an idea, treat it as a suggestion, not a prediction of how many views you'll get.

Research YouTube keywords in Safari.

Planning the next video? Ask vidIQ to look up the topic before you settle on a title.

"Use vidIQ to find YouTube keywords about making a Halloween costume."

Then follow up: "Which of those fit this video?" You can keep working in the same chat. Check the dates on keyword results when you need recent numbers.

Having trouble?

If AlliHat cannot see your video details, check its Safari website permission and open the video's details page again. Tell it to use vidIQ if you want vidIQ's tools involved in the answer.

If you need to sign in again, open Connected apps, select vidIQ, and choose Refresh connection. For private channel analytics, your YouTube channel also needs to be connected to vidIQ.

Out of credits? Ask "How many vidIQ credits do I have left?" See vidIQ's connection help for account and credit details.

Accounts and costs.

You need AlliHat, an AI connection, and your own vidIQ account. AlliHat has a 7-day free trial, then costs $29.99/year. The vidIQ connection is available on free and paid plans, and requests use your vidIQ credits. Your AI and vidIQ plans are separate.

The page text you ask about goes to your AI provider. Details needed for a vidIQ request go to vidIQ too. Read about privacy.

Common questions.

vidIQ does not currently offer an official Safari extension. AlliHat is an independent Safari app that connects to vidIQ, so you can ask for title ideas and keyword research in a chat beside the page.

No. This connection puts vidIQ tools in your AlliHat chat. It does not add the scorecards or overlays from the official vidIQ browser extension.

Can I use a free vidIQ account?

Yes. The connection is available on free and paid vidIQ plans. Requests use your vidIQ credits. AlliHat and your AI provider are separate.

Do I need Agent Mode?

Does this work on iPhone or iPad?
